Now that we have received our country assignments, all of us have officially moved "upstairs" in the Ronald Reagan Building. Most of our work is self-directed. We all have supervisors, but we don't really report to them directly except to sign off on trainings. It is up to me to design my training schedule to account for my needs and interests. We have the option of doing rotations in other bureaus, take classes online, or attend countless other workshops and/or sessions in the RRB or in the metro area.Thursday, I was in Arlington taking a Environmental Short course workshop. It was all day and it gave us ideas on how to implement sustainable environmental best-practices into our projects once we head to post. One section called, "What is Systems Thinking?," made me laugh when one guy at my table jokingly stated the phrase "What is Systems Thinking!?!," like "Systems" was some animate object that just royally screwed the pooch. I guess you had to be there.
