I had a great 31st birthday. At work, the very nice teachers that I work with brought in an ice cream cake. I got birthday hugs from my students and a nice note from one of my students. Seriously, does it get any better than that?We had a nice dinner with Erin, Gray, and Hayden. We all went to Kanamwon, located close to our apartment. It is a BYOB place with tasty, traditional Thai food. If you like flavor and spice, you would love this place.
After dinner, it was Hayden's bedtime, so Kevin and I finished the night out at our place with some homemade birthday cake, yellow with chocolate frosting...yummy...and Green Tea ice cream. We toyed with the idea of walking downtown, but watching Doc Hollywood and The Dog Whisperer seemed more appealing at the end of the night.
Today was the big day...drum roll....to pick up our puppy. This morning we drove to Palestine, Texas via I45 North, to Route 79 to Buffalo to Mills Road, one road away from Covey Drive. These places are significant because Covey was my maiden name and Kev was born in Buffalo (NY), so we thought this must be a good sign. We were right. Our puppy has been great so far. He has been loving, passive, and not much of a barker. Of course, this has only been the first day, but we really feel like this is going to be a great dog. He was good on the ride home. He did throw up in the car, but it was his first car ride. We took him to the dog park and he was already playing with other dogs and didn't seem skittish with new people. He has a beautiful red coat and big, floppy ears. Overall, he seems like a friendly pup. We love him already!
