We had out first day of orientation and were sworn in as a Foreign Service Officers yesterday. Unfortunately, my internet has been agonizingly down, so I have been incommunicado for the last few days.
Our class is DLI 8, which stands for Development Leadership Initiative 8. We are the largest class in USAID history as the agency is making its biggest resurgence since the Vietnam war. We have 60 in our class. My backstop (sector) is called Private Enterprise, but there are officers representing health and population, democracy and governance, environment, contracting, law, program, and a couple others.
