Over the weekend we drove to the southern part of the Nicoya Peninsula, on an attempt to find a less developed beach area. The trip took us on a dirt road, through the hills, and eventually stuck in a river. We rented a Jimmy that had 4WD, but apparently it didn't work.
We camped at the beach and then headed back early the next morning. We wanted to find an alternate route because we didn't think we could make it back through the river on our own. Unfortunately the other route ran us right into BONGO, an even bigger mamajama of a river, which we knew better than to cross.
Jimmy took lots of towels to absorb the water he took in from the river, but he is back home with the rental company, his river cruise undetected.
